LORD OF THE SABBATH

ISAIAH 38:-6.21-22.7-8

 

And Isaiah said, "Let me take a cake of figs, and put it on the line, to heal!" Before that Hezekiah had said: "What shall be the sign, that I will go to the House of the Lord?"

 

ISAIAH 3B: 10-12,16  

 

My dwelling hut was demolished and opened like a shepherd's tent; Like a weaving artisan rolled up the thread I ended my life; God cut off my life from the threads. From day to night thou hast suffered me, I cried for help until morning; Like a lion, God destroys all my bones; From day to night thou hast suffered me.

 

MATTHEW 12:1-8

 

The Pharisees rebuking Jesus ' disciples quoting and eating the grain on the Sabbath and Jesus said He was God on the Sabbath day.

 

DEVOTIONALS 

 

The Pharisees had always been finding fault with Jesus and this time about Jesus ' disciples picking, eating the grain on the Sabbath day.

 

Matthew 12:1-2

At that time, on the Sabbath day, Jesus walked in the wheat field. Hungry, his disciples plucked the grain of wheat and eaten it. Seeing that, the Pharisees said to Him, "Behold, murid-muridMu does something that is not allowed on the Sabbath day."

 

The Pharisees and scribes do not understand the intent and purpose of God establishing the rule of the Sabbath is to glorify God by spending a special day on the Sabbath.

 

But they add to the rules of the Sabbath based on their interests and establish the prohibition of doing activities/jobs on the Sabbath for others unless they can.  

 

Matthew 12:5

Or have you not read in the Torah, that on the Sabbath days, the priests broke the Sabbath law in the temple, but were innocent?

 

A lesson for us that rules should be set apart for the benefit of the multitude.  

 

Sometimes there are situations and conditions that are forced to violate the rules but must see the objectives; Whether it pertains to a person's life or relates to hunger, sickness, his dsman.

 

Helping people who are sick, starvation, and other critical conditions, even if forced to violate provisions of the Sabbath day, should be taken into consideration and allowable.

 

So

 

The goal is determined by the rules that should be the guideline of supervising whether the rules are well executed and for mutual benefit. 

 

Jesus is the Messiah means Jesus is God but the Pharisees and scribes do not admit it because they have their own understanding that is not in line with the Lord God.

 

Of course they did not understand when Jesus said:

 

Matthew 12:6.8

I say unto you: There are those who exceed the temple. Because the son of man is Lord of the Sabbath. 

 

Then Jesus explained why breaking the Sabbath day:

 

Matthew 12:7

If indeed you understand the meaning of the word: What I want is mercy and not offerings, of course, you do not punish innocent people.

BERBUAH ATAU BERUBAH

Saudara saudariku yang terkasih salam sejahtera bagi kita semua, saya mengajak anda untuk belajar dan bermenung bersama melalui injil matius ayat 8:1-4, didalam injil pada bagian ini diceritakan mengenai orang yang berbondong mengikuti Yesus setelah Yesus menyampaikan sabda diatas bukit. Ketika itu ada yang sakit kusta yang mendatangi Yesus dan berkata “jika engkau mau, engkau bisa mentahirkan aku”. Dan Yesus mengatakan “Aku mau jadilah engkau tahir”. Sesudah menyembuhkan orang itu Yesus melarang orang itu untuk memberitahukan tentang peristiwa itu.

Saudara  saudariku pada poin inilah saya ingin mengajak anda semua untuk bermenung mengapa Yesus melarang orang yang sakit kusta yang disembuhkannya itu untuk memberitahukan peristiwa kesembuhannya selain kepada imam sebagaimana hukum pada waktu itu. Inilah sebenarnya yang menjadi kritik untuk kita, kita beriman tetapi menjadi tidak seimbang, beriman mendekati Tuhan hanya untuk sesuatu yang bersifat spektakuler, hanya untuk sesuatu yang tidak mampu lagi ditangani oleh manusia. Padahal kita dipanggil untuk beriman agar kita menjadi sungguh sungguh manusia, ketika kita menjadi sungguh sungguh manusia maka kita juga akan menjadi sedemikian ilahi

Sebab keilahian bukan didapat ketika kita menolak kenyataan menusiawi, keilahian justru kita dapatkan ketika kita menerima seluruh kenyataan kemanusiaan kita. Kita bisa melihat disekitaran kita semakin orang beriman tapi nyatanya tidak semakin manusiawi, semakin terlihat dekat dengan Allah tetapi semakin aneh dalam hubungannya dengan sesama. saudara saudariku beriman dalam perspektif kita sebagai orang kristiani adalah beriman didalam Yesus sebagai yang sungguh Allah dan sungguh manusia.  Itu artinya ktia beriman bukan sekedar untuk mengakses keilahian tetapi juga untuk belajar tentang kemanusiaan, hal ini lah yang sering kali gagal ditangkap dan gagal direnungkan oleh kebanyakan orang kristiani, kita beriman mendekati Yesus memuji dan menyembah Yesus hanya untuk mengharapkan mujizat, hanya untuk mendapatkan perubahan perubahan didalam hidup kita. Padahal panggilan untuk beriman sebenarnya adalah panggilan untuk berbuah bukan sekedar panggilan untuk mengubah.

Dalam banyak permenungan saya kerap kali mengungkapkan bahwa kebanyakan kita sebagai orang Kristen dalam beriman mengharapkan perubahan perubahan yang signifikan, padahal ukuran dari beriman itu sebenarnya adalah apakah kita bersama Yesus itu mampu berbuah didalam setiap kenyataan yang sedang kita jalani. Sebagaimana orang kusta tadi mengatakan bahwa “Tuhan kalau engkau mau”. Tentu saja saudara saudari ku Allah mau mengubah hidup kita tetapi jauh yang lebih Dia inginkan atau jauh yang Dia mau adalah kita bersama dia berbuah didalam setiap kenyataan.

Secara pribadi saya seringkali berpikir dan bermenung, jika dalam kemiskinan saya lebih banyak berbuah daripada ketika saya berada didalam kelimpahan mengapa saya harus menggerutu dan menolak atau bahkan mengutuk kemiskinan, ketika didalam kesepian saya justru lebih banyak berbuah daripada ketika berada dalam keramaian mengapa saya harus menggerutu banyak ketika dalam kesunyian. Ketika ketaatan membuat saya lebih banyak berbuah daripada ketika saya berada dalam kebebasan yang tak terkendali mengapa saya harus menggerutu terhadap ketaatan ini, sekali lagi saudara saudariku tentu saja Yesus mau dan bersedia untuk mengubah kenyataan hidup kita yang tidak menyenangkan tetapi lebih dari sekedar mengubah yang tidak menyenangkan itu Yesus berkeinginan atau berkehendak agar kita berbuah bersama dengan dia. saudara saudariku, Tuhan memberkati kita semua.

WHY NOT WANT TO REPENT

ISAIAH 7:1-9

 

And the Lord said to Isaiah, "Well thou come out to see Ahaz, thou and Syear Yasyub, thy son, to the end of the upper pool channel, to the highway in the pasture of the gardener, and say unto him: Sip your heart and stay calm, fear not and do not your heart because of these two smoky wood butts, the overheating of Rezin with Aram and his son Remalya.

 

PSALM 48:2-8  

 

The Holy One, the towering one, is the joy of the Whole Earth; Mount Zion, far to the north, the city of the Great king. As we have heard, so we also see, in the City of the Lord of hosts, in the City of our God; God is to enforce it forever.

 

MATTHEW 11:20-24  

 

Jesus condemned Kota2 not repent; The city of Khorazim, Betsaida, Capernaum

 

DEVOTIONALS 

 

Jesus was very loud rebuking the inhabitants of the cities of Khorazim, Bethsaida, and Capernaum because they did not repent.

 

It is not explained why the inhabitants of the three cities would not repent? What sins do they do?

 

Let us explore more deeply so that we understand and understand the intent of Jesus condemn the 3rd city.

 

What the 3rd population of the city has done reflects the attitudes and deeds of the people whose lives are contrary to their attitudes and deeds according to the will of God.

 

Live up to the lusts of the flesh, pursuing the pleasures and pleasures of the worldly, stockpiling the Treasures of the world, and other things for self-interest that  do not favor God.  

 

In general, such a life-like attitude is difficult to break away from the worldliness because it is bound and shackled by it.

 

It would be advised that he would not be heard by it, even to ridicule and insult the person who advised him because of him the advice is something of ignorance in his opinion.

 

We still remember the rich man's story with Lazarus; The rich man was injected but did not listen (Luke 16:19-E1).

 

Rich people, successful people, people whose popularity is highly vulnerable reject the Gospel because it believes in self-power and greatness so that it does not  require the advice of others and does not feel the need to listen to the Gospel.  

 

People who underestimate the gospel or the word of God then usually his life according to the teachings and philosophy of the world as a standard of righteousness.

 

1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man does not receive that which is of the spirit of God, for it is ignorance; And he could not understand it, because it could only be spiritually judged.

 

Darisini we can suspect the main cause of the 3rd population of the city that was condemned by Jesus not to repent because their attitude of life prioritizes worldliness and no wonder if they commit sin.

 

But according to them it is not sin because their standard of righteousness is not based on the word of God but according to the truth of the world they adopt as a standard of righteousness to him.

 

We Christians will experience a similar thing when we choose to live according to the principle of the truth of the world despite professing faith in Jesus Christ but not living in the righteousness of the Word of God.  

 

Repent and do not be hard of your heart because we do not know when the time comes the judgment of God.
